What types of apartments are available?
The following apartment types are available
- Studio/1 Bath: 520 sq ft and up
- 1 Bed/1 Bath: 600 sq ft and up
- 2 Bed/2 Bath: 960 sq ft and up
Do you have penthouses?
Yes, the 45th and 46th floors of the FMC Tower are our Penthouse floors. On these floors, you can expect floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic skyline views, Carrara marble bathrooms, an upgraded furniture program, upgraded kitchen appliances to include a panelized refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as a marble backsplash, a Lutron Wi-Fi lighting system providing the ability to customize lighting controls throughout the apartment. The apartment layouts and overall square footage do not vary from our non-Penthouse floors.
What is required to apply for an apartment?
- Each prospective resident must fill out an application which has a $50.00 per person application fee
- Proof of income. These documents include the three most recent pay stubs, bank statements, or current tax returns
- Valid Proof of ID (i.e. Passport or Driver's License)
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
Can i lease an apartment in advance?
Yes! They can offer a TBA (to be assigned) lease agreement up to 8 months in advance based on availability. Though we cannot guarantee the exact apartment number, they can offer one that is similar to your preferred layout. A security deposit is required, along with a signed lease and accompanying documents.
Are there taxes on the monthly rental fee
There are no taxes on monthly rental fees.
What furniture is included in the furnished?
A full list of items can be provided based on the specific suite selection. The following outlines the key items included in the furnished apartments at AKA
- Dining furniture (table/chairs)
- Living room furniture to include an area rug
- Bedroom furniture to include bed, mattress, console, and end tables
- Floor, tabletop, and pendant lighting
- Artwork in the living room and bedroom
- Televisions in the living room and bedroom
- Desk/daybed/shelving/mirror where applicable
- Floor/table lighting throughout
The furniture packages are consistent with the high-quality Italian furniture partners we selected for our luxury hotel suites, including Lema, Living Divani, Cassina, Flos, and Porro.
What cable options are available to residents?
They can accommodate both Comcast Xfinity and Verizon Fios for cable and/or internet coverage in all apartments. Phone connectivity and Wi-Fi are available in all public areas, including the lobby, hallways, and amenity spaces.
Is parking available?
Secure and convenient parking options are available for monthly unlimited entry and exit at the Cira South Garage, with a covered walk path connecting the garage to AKA University City. Parking rates start at $45/day and $395/month. Note that the garage is also available for public parking daily for friends/family/guests.
Do you offer bike parking?
Within the Cira South Garage, there is a secure bike cage that is complimentary to all residents and requires annual registration.
Is renters insurance required?
Yes. Renter's liability insurance is required with a minimum of $100,000 in liability coverage per occurrence. For your convenience, we utilize ResidentShield as our preferred provider to assist with insurance.
What type of community engagement can residents expect?
They host themed monthly resident events designed to keep residents engaged, informed, excited, and connected with neighbors, the AKA team, learn about new and ongoing amenities and programs (and yes, there's always complimentary food!) Past events include spa activations on Level28, a complimentary Valentine's Day Coffee Bar, open mic nights, movie nights in the onsite cinema, and resident appreciation events.
What is the pet policy at the apartment?
The Apartment Residences at AKA University City are pet-friendly with up to 2 pets per residence. There are multiple parks and dog runs within steps of our property, located along the Schuylkill River and Cira Green Complex. Note that residents of our apartments must register pets by completing a pet addendum for management approval, and are responsible for a $500 non-refundable pet fee, as well as a $40 per month pet rent.
Is there storage?
Yes, they have residential storage lockers available. Lockers are 4’ wide by 4’ deep by 8’ tall and are available as a full locker for $75 per month or a half locker for $40 per month.
